What Plateful keeps

• Your account: your email address and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password. We can't see your password.
• Your household: the names you give household members, diets, allergies, likes and dislikes, cooking time, equipment and the other setup answers.
• Your kitchen: pantry items, meal plans, shopping lists, recipes you add or import, what you cooked, ratings and notes, leftovers and food you threw out.
• Your grocery spending: your budget, the shopping trips and receipts you confirm, and item prices.
• Photos you upload: receipt photos, photos of meals and recipes, photos you share with friends, and a background photo if you set one.
• Friends: your friend code, who you're connected to, and what you share with them.
• Phone alerts, if you turn them on: the address your phone's push service gives us for that phone, and which alerts were already sent so you don't get one twice.
• Feedback you send: what you wrote, plus the page you were on, your browser, screen size, theme, Free or Pro, and the app build.

What we measure

• Usage events: things like "signed up", "added pantry items" or "planned a meal", with counts. They never include what you typed, food names, or your email. We use them to see which parts of Plateful get used.
• Errors: when something breaks, we record the error message, the page (without anything after the "?" in the address), your browser and screen size, so we can fix it.
• Abuse limits: to slow down password guessing and spam signups, we briefly keep a scrambled fingerprint of your email or internet address. These are cleared after a day.

There are no ads, no ad trackers, and no third-party analytics. We don't sell your information.

Who else sees it

Plateful uses a few outside services to run. Each gets only what it needs:

• Vercel hosts the app and stores uploaded photos.
• Neon runs the database where your account and kitchen are kept.
• Anthropic reads photos when you scan a receipt, shelf or fridge, and reads what you type in Pro Quick Add, so it can turn them into pantry items. Nothing is sent to it unless you use one of those.
• Apple, Google or Mozilla deliver phone alerts, if you turn them on. They carry the alert's text, like the names of foods to use soon or tonight's dinner.
• Spoonacular is the recipe search behind Pro's Discover. It receives your diets, your allergies, up to five pantry item names and anything you search for. It doesn't get your name or email.

Uploaded photos are stored at long, random web addresses. Anyone who has an exact address can open that photo, but the addresses aren't listed anywhere.

On your device

Plateful uses a sign-in cookie, a cookie with your time zone so dates match your day, and your browser's storage for things like your theme, text size, and shopping taps made without signal. To work offline, it also keeps a copy of recently viewed pages on your device. That copy is cleared when anyone signs in.

Your choices

• Download your data: More, then Export your data.
• Phone alerts: turn them off, or choose what they're about, in More, then Notifications. Signing out also stops them on that phone.
• Delete your account: More, then Delete my account. This removes your account, your household and kitchen data, your photos, your feedback, your phone alert settings, and your usage events. It can't be undone.
• The demo is cleared out a few hours after it ends, and it can't upload photos.
